Christmas Day, 2009 changed everything. One moment of violence, and I was paralyzed.

I've spent every day since fighting to live fully but my own home fights back. The doorways are too narrow for my wheelchair. My partner, my hero, has physically lifted me into the bathroom for years because the space simply won't allow anything else. She shouldn't have to break her body to get me through a door.

We've been searching for an accessible home since 2016. Nine years. All I want is to cook a meal, move through a room, get myself to the bathroom things most people never think twice about. I want to give my partner the relief she's earned a thousand times over, and I want back even a small piece of the independence I lost.
